HIGHWAY OF HEROES CANADIAN RESPONDS – UPDATED SEPTEMBER 7, 2009

UPDATED SEPTEMBER 7, 2009
After listening to those disgusting comments about Canada and our proud military by those idiots on Fox News, this slideshow shows how Canada honors its fallen heros – who have died in Afghanistan – UPDATED SEPTEMBER 7 – 129 to date – 126 brave men and 3 brave women each and every time they arrive home in Canada – along the government re-named Highway of Heroes between Trenton and Toronto. As an adult child of a Navy veteran who spent 5 years of his life on the NORTH ATLANTIC in a small corvette during WW 2 fighting the Nazis, you and all your pals should be ashamed!!!! And I am the very proud Aunt of a nephew Mark who, with a Master’s Degree in War Studies from the Royal Military College in Kingston Ontario VOLUNTEERED to go and serve in Afghanistan. Canadians are justly outraged. …OH …and by the way.. I was never SO PROUD when the Canadian Government made the decision on behalf of Canadians NOT to support YOUR war against IRAQ! That was the right decision as history will show.

    Just a sweet …
Just a sweet reminder of why I have enlisted in the CF and begin basic training next month. Watching the many videos like these will keep me my drive and desire to serve the many wonderful people of this country I have been proud to be a part of for the past 29 years!!!

    I am sorry for …
I am sorry for whatever loss it is that you have experienced that has left you so bitterly disposed toward firefighters. Your anger is clearly more deeply rooted than having to pay for fire protection; but whatever, you have my sympathies.

This is an awesome video and tribute to Canadian troops and I think to key so negatively on firefighters is to detract from the intent of the video. All the firefighters you will notice are paying tribute to the soldiers – so why such a venomous attack?

    All firemen whould …
All firemen whould be volunteers as it was in the past… The didn’t put out many fires, but they don’t today either. At least it owuld cost less. Fake heros… go have another parade. I want all you firemen out of my tax return. You aren’t worth the price.

    And what of the …
And what of the hundred’s of thousands of us whom are volunteers? I do not consider myself a hero in any way. The one thing that I do feel that I share with them is a compassion and a desire to make bad situations better. I know of several fire fighters that have paid the ultimate price in trying to help and those individuals, in my opinion, are true heroes in the same sense as those returning from foreign battlefields – to think less of them than that is to do them a great disservice.

As a US Vet I say thank you, Canadian brothers and sisters in arms, for standing in harm’s way with us to defeat jihadist terror and tyranny.
“Oh, Canada, we stand on guard for thee” as well.
It is time to bury the bitterness of the Vietnam era and stand side by side again, guardians of the freedom we share.
Thank you for your sacrifice in that cause. “God, keep our lands glorious and free…”

RIP to brave Canadian & USA troops who lost their lives in the Afghan / Iraq war.

PS – I don’t recall seeing or hearing of a Fox News report that criticized or ridiculed Canada. As a Fox News fan, my apologies for any disrespect that was conveyed.
